My Emotions: Poetry Activity
My Emotions: Poetry Activity
This project offers a unique and valuable opportunity for children aged 5 to 11 to experiment with and explore poetry through engaging activities and delightful themes. Ideal for both classroom and home settings, these lesson plans can be utilised with entire classes, small groups, or individual learners.
These lesson plans are designed to help children connect with characters and discover the joy of poetic expression, making it an enriching and beneficial experience for young poets.
At the heart of the project is a poem by Emily Bayne-West featuring beloved characters from Laura Helen Brown's My Emotions Activity Book.

We offer three distinct lesson plans designed to support children in experimenting with and exploring poetry across different key stages: KS1, LKS2, and UKS2.
These plans encourage creativity and self-expression, reassuring educators and parents of the program's relevance in fostering a love for language and artistic exploration. Each lesson is tailored to the specific developmental needs of its age group, ensuring that children receive age-appropriate guidance and encouragement.
The activities are structured to inspire curiosity and engagement, allowing children to discover the joy of poetic expression.
Educators, parents, and carers will find these lesson plans easily adaptable to their needs. This flexibility enables them to tailor the exploration of poetry to what is most relevant and meaningful for the children, making it a responsive and valuable tool for nurturing young poets.

The My Emotions project
We are fortunate to have two project partnerships with Laura Helen Brown, the creator of 'My Emotions Activity Book.' One of these initiatives, the 'My Emotions' Project, empowers children to explore and recognise feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and gratitude. You can find more information about this project below.
